Dr. Alwyn Leiba is an accomplished leader currently serves as Interim President of Miami Dade College, Medical Campus. Throughout his tenure at Miami Dade College, Dr. Leiba has held various pivotal roles, including Associate Professor, Chairperson for the School of Health Sciences, and most recently as Dean for the School of Health Sciences. During his leadership as Dean, he successfully implemented numerous allied health programs to meet critical workforce demands. In his current capacity, Dr. Leiba is dedicated to fostering student success through personalized attention, transformative learning experiences, and enhancing overall student engagement. Recognized for his outstanding contributions to healthcare leadership, Dr. Leiba received the Champion in Healthcare award from the Global Innovative Foundation in 2024 and was honored by the ICABA World Network in 2022 as part of their ICABA Salutes Men who Lead initiative. He was also the recipient of the 2021 Legacy Magazine Black Leaders of Today and Tomorrow Award. Dr. Leiba holds academic degrees including an Associate of Science and Associate of Arts from Miami Dade College, a Bachelor of Science from Saint Petersburg College, an MBA with a concentration in Healthcare Management from American Intercontinental University, and a PhD from Northcentral University. Beyond his professional achievements, Dr. Leiba finds fulfillment in his role as a husband and father of two boys, guided by his favorite quote: “The surest way not to fail is to determine to succeed.”
