Dr. Chen Chen is an Associate Professor at the Center for Research in Computer Vision (CRCV), the Department of Computer Science, and the Institute of Artificial Intelligence (IAI) at the University of Central Florida. His research spans computer vision, multimodal and efficient deep learning, federated learning, and medical image computing, with broad applications in healthcare, sensing, and intelligent systems. His recent work focuses on federated and privacy-preserving learning frameworks with potential for healthcare deployment, and on multimodal foundation models that integrate visual and language understanding across domains.
Dr. Chen has led and contributed to several NSF, IARPA, and industry-sponsored projects, and has authored over 100 papers in top AI and computer vision venues including CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, NeurIPS, and Nature Medicine. According to Google Scholar, he has over 28,000 citations and an h-index of 81. He serves as an Associate Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems for Video Technology and the Journal of Real-Time Image Processing, and as an Area Chair for ICCV 2025, NeurIPS 2024, ECCV 2024, ECCV 2022, and CVPR 2022.
His honors include the Rising Stars Award from the Academy of Science, Engineering and Medicine of Florida (ASEMFL), Best Paper Nominations at CVPR 2022 and ICCV 2025, and recognition as a Finalist for the MICCAI Young Scientist Publication Impact Award.
