Dr. Kavitha Jayachandran (Dr. Jay) is a Senior Physician in Internal Medicine at The Permanente Medical Group and Assistant Professor at the Institute of Medical Educators, Kaiser Permanente Santa Clara. Her leadership roles include Co-Director at the Institute of Medical Educators and Course Director for the Stanford-Kaiser Permanente Santa Clara Mastery Teaching Program creating curriculum and faculty development programs and initiatives.
With over two decades of experience in clinical practice and a passionate advocate for innovation in medical education, Dr. Jay is recognized for her leadership in continuing medical education (CME). She has received multiple prestigious awards, including the 2025 CMA-CME Award for Outstanding CME Leadership and the 2025 Innovation in CME Award for the simulation program using point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS). Her earlier initiatives, such as the “Physician Directed Patient Self-Examination” video series and longitudinal CME in transgender education, have also earned acclaim for their creativity and impact.

Dr. Jay is especially enthusiastic about the transformative potential of artificial intelligence in medical education. She has delivered several invited presentations on this topic exploring how AI can empower educators, streamline content creation, and personalize learning for clinicians. Her work bridges the gap between emerging technologies and frontline medical practice, inspiring peers to embrace innovation with purpose and compassion.
