Dr. Ritu Patel is a double-boarded specialist in pediatric hospital medicine and pediatrics with a broad clinical background spanning tertiary inpatient care settings including the pediatric intensive care unit, neonatology intensive care unit, subspecialty and post-surgical inpatient care settings, and pediatric transport medicine. She is a dedicated educator with extensive experience training medical students, pediatric and family medicine residents, and hospital medicine fellows. She has served as a trusted mentor and advisor throughout her career. Dr. Patel established the Kaiser East Bay Pediatric Hospital Medicine Fellowship and served as the program director for twelve years. She currently serves as the UCSF Pediatric Clerkship Site Director at Kaiser Oakland. A member of the Kaiser East Bay Academy of Medical Educators, she has been recognized with multiple teaching awards from both the UCSF School of Medicine and the Kaiser East Bay Pediatric Residency Program. Dr. Patel is also the Patient Safety Lead for the Kaiser East Bay Patient Safety and Risk Committee. She is particularly interested in leveraging artificial intelligence to enhance medical education through innovations in evaluation, simulation, feedback, and patient safety training.
