Professor Hatim Abdulhussein BSc MBBS MSc PGDip MRCGP FHEA FBCS
Professor Hatim Abdulhussein is Chief Executive Officer of Health Innovation Kent Surrey Sussex (KSS), one of England's 15 Health Innovation Networks (HINs). Under his leadership, the organisation has grown to over 60 colleagues, broadened its portfolio of programmes and partnerships, and built nationally recognised expertise in digital, data and artificial intelligence (DDAI), and translational research.
Hatim continues to practise as a General Practitioner (GP) in Surrey and is an Honorary Professor of Innovation and Artificial Intelligence at the University of Surrey.
Alongside his leadership of Health Innovation KSS, Hatim is the Joint Lead for Digital and Data for the national Health Innovation Network, helping to shape strategy, share best practice and support the development of national approaches to DDAI.
Hatim plays a leading role in advancing the safe, ethical and responsible adoption of DDAI across health and care. He recently served as Senior Responsible Officer (SRO) for NHS South East's regional digital strategy and has contributed nationally through working groups supporting both the Life Sciences Sector Plan and the NHS 10-Year Health Plan for England.
Hatim co-founded the Topol Programme for Digital Health Fellowships and previously served as NHS England's National Clinical Lead for AI and Digital Workforce. He also led and co-authored national work on AI in the NHS Long Term Workforce Plan.
He is currently co-authoring and editing Artificial Intelligence Based Primary Care, due for publication in 2027.
